Last Weekend In Sydney :(

My colleague/friend Jon Evans has come out to Sydney to take over from me for a few months while I sort out another visa.

It was his first weekend in Sydney this weekend (and my last!) so on Saturday we went to Darling Harbour to watch the fireworks (which are always amazing!) and on Sunday to introduce Jon to Sydney we went a walk around some of the tourist attractions.

We went to see the Opera House:

The Sydney Harbour Bridge

We had a nice lunch down by Circular Quay, with a good view of the bridge:

We walked around the Botanical Gardens

And just generally took lots of touristy type pictures!

Even though the weather wasn't particularly brilliant, all in all my last weekend in Sydney was a good one!!

Gold Coast

At high school my best friend for many years was Mark Kilroy. After school we went to different colleges and kind of lost track with each other :(
We only got back in touch via Facebook a couple of years ago. Turns out Mark now lives on the Gold Coast in Australia with his wife Claire:

So I took the opportunity while I'm here in OZ to take a short flight up to see them for the weekend.

When I arrived it was chucking it down :( But we walked around a small town near the airport where they had an old car show on.

Even though it was wet and miserable we took a nice walk along the coast line.

And people were still surfing even in this crappy weather!!

Around this time 20 years we left school, so this was our own little 20 year reunion on the other side of the world!

We went out for a nice meal to celebrate and obviously had a few too many drinks :)

The next day the weather was a lot nicer, so Claire and Mark drove us round a few of the nice beaches the Gold Coast has to offer.

I even went for a little paddle in he sea!

Surfers Paradise is apparently a popular beach!

And we watched the kite surfers

All in all it was a brilliant weekend and would love to go back and visit again if/when I come back to Australia. Thanks Mark & Claire x
