It cost me about 1300 baht, and for that they picked me up from the hotel, drove me to pier, went on a boat trip down the canal for about an hour, switched boats and went on a bigger boat that offered free fruit and drinks (including alcoholic if you wanted it!), back to the pier then a lift back to the hotel.
All in all it was about a 3.5 hour trip and all that was about £30!! How good is that!
Here's the pier where we caught the boat from:
I like this that Ocean World had made at the pier!
Had to be done!
Here's the first boat we went in:
Then we set off down the river/canal and saw some interesting boats on our trips:
This one is actually a taxi bus! And as you can see it's a bit full!
We went past lots of temples:
And the back of the Royal Palace:
We also saw lots of other unusual structures:
And then we started to see people homes:
Lovely aren't they!! Might consider moving into one of these! Our tour guide said the families that own them have lived in them for many generations and they get passed down. Listen up Mum and Dad if you leave us anything like this when you go there'll be trouble! :)
Local people paddle up to the side of the boat to sell souvenirs.
We then went past a floating market!
Apparently they're really popular with the tourists, and on a weekend the locals all come down here with their families to have lunch together (not really my idea of Sunday Lunch, but each to their own!)
We then switched boats:
And it was a good thing we did because shortly after the heavens open and it chucked it down!
Luckily our new boat had a roof and sides that come down to protect us from the rain.
It only last about 10 minutes and it cleared up (typical for Bangkok weather.....)
