Fleet Review

Every few years all the Navel Ships come into Sydney Harbour for a fleet review, this year they were celebrating the 100th anniversary of this. So on Friday 5th October all the ships docked in the harbours of Sydney and the whole city celebrated for a long bank holiday weekend!

I had a wonder down to Circular Quay and Barangaroo (end of Darling Harbour) on the Saturday morning to see if I could see anything. Unfortunately due to security a lot of areas were closed off I could only see a few of the warships from a distance:

Prince Harry was in town for the celebrations, and I swear to god he drove past us on the Friday night on his way into the city!

We were sat outside a bar around 10pm and all of a sudden the police stopped all the traffic and unmarked cars with blacked out widows flew past followed by more police cars/bikes.

Saturday night there were big celebrations and the main attractions was they had fireworks being let off some of the ships in the harbour.

I was very fortunate to get an invite to the Boulevard Hotel to watch the event, they have great views of the harbour from the top floors of the hotel. It was great to watch, but due to the distance the pictures/videos didn't come out very well :( So I'll just put a few good ones on here.

They had 3 main ships spread out across the harbour that let off the fireworks in sync with each other!

They also let off some fireworks off the Sydney Harbour Bridge (like they do on New Years Eve!). And also off the sides/tops of buildings!

It was a spectacular display then went on for 20 minutes!
